4 THE REST OF THE DAY & LIMA NIGHT LIFE

Day 3: Lima/Cuzco A short flight this morning brought us to the archaeological hub of the Americas and the continent's oldest continuously inhabited city. Though better known as the staging point for visiting Machu Picchu, Cuzco is a dynamic, historic city rich with the legacies of its Inca and Spanish forebears. It is also 11,152 feet above sea level (higher than Machu Picchu), so acclimating to the high altitude is essential. In the afternoon we embarked on a city tour that featured the Temple of the Sun and the main Cathedral with its superb collection of colonial art. We also visited the nearby Inca ruins at Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-pucara, and Sacsayhuaman. In the evening we enjoy a dinner show at a restaurant overlooking Plaza de Armas, the celebrated main square of this UNESCO World Heritage city.
