The Toltec, from central Mexico (Tula), were known for their aggressive, warlike nature and devotion to the famous Mesoamerican, pre-Columbian god, Quetzalcoatl--the plummed serpent, aka Kukulkan. The Temple of Warriors, Ball Court & Pyramid and the Well, (Cenote of the Sacrifices) are all part of this later part of Chichén Itza. While much of the site dates back to around AD 967-987, the "modern" Toltec area is only 1000 years old.
